Background
Teletrips Management Services
strives to balance public policy and private sector goals surrounding
one of our community’s greatest challenges: ever-increasing traffic
congestion and resultant deterioration of air quality. Teletrips Management
Services offers a program that not only, reduces commuter traffic and
congestion, improves air quality, reduces energy consumption and thus
CO2 emissions, but also creates added value for participating companies
and the general public.
Teletrips Management Services will assist communities that want to establish
programs that promote increased use of telework by creating financial
incentives for businesses that allow appropriate employees to work from
home at least one day a week. By calculating the reduced kilometres/miles
traveled by the employees of a business through the Teletrips software,
the business will earn emission credits that can be traded into existing
stationery markets, or into open market systems.
How The Program Works
Teletrips will partner with local, state, provincial and federal governments
that are seeking innovative solutions for traffic congestion, air pollution
and climate change mitigation through voluntary, incentive-based trip
reduction programs.
While numerous governments recognize the potential conservation, transportation
and environmental benefits of having employees work from home 1-2 days
a week, in many cases, the private sector has been slow to implement telework
programs. However, improvements in communications technology, improved
cost-benefit analysis of telework programs, increased traffic commute
times, (resulting in lost worker productivity) and increased worker information
and property liability concerns after September 11, have together created
a new environment for adoption of telework programs.
In this new business environment, Teletrips believes that there is a
perfect opportunity to dramatically increase acceptance of telework by
offering business incentives. Teletrips has assembled a strategic alliance
with key private sector partners to offer these incentives. By using the
Teletrips tracking tool, in coordination with government sanctioned programs,
businesses will not only earn tradable credits, they will have the added
benefits of reduced liability insurance rates, reductions in auto insurance
rates for workers, and discounts for office and computer products.
Support Of Public Policy Goals
The Teletrips Trip Reduction program was designed to help accomplish
public policy goals relating to traffic congestion, pollution, climate
change, and fuel conservation by responding to and offering solutions
to the private sector’s financial concerns. The program, which Teletrips
is prepared to coordinate in cooperation with local, state, provincial
and federal governments, is based upon the philosophy that progress can
be made on these issues by the private sector, on a voluntary basis.
At Teletrips, we direct programs creating private-public partnerships
that provide solutions to community problems through voluntary, private
sector action.
